TICK TOCK

Did you know, you can sell your time, but you can never buy it back again? When you look at it like that, you have every good reason to make use of every millisecond of your time for the purpose of pursuing your passions.

From the time you were born, the clock ticks away, notching off the days and hours until the only assured event in your life which is your physical death.

Time is the most valued asset we have. That is perhaps why time is my love language. Time, when given to me is more valuable than gold. It is my most prized gift. When another person gifts me with their time, I feel honoured, validated and cared for. I feel seen. When another gives selflessly of their time to listen, to share, to help out, to soothe my aching muscles or heal my sore heart, I feel deeply blessed. Time is like quicksilver. You cannot own it, touch it, see it or buy more of it. You have to appreciate it, bask in it and enjoy it in the ‘now’. Time is for living wholeheartedly and to the fullest. The time I have left is so precious. I don’t want to waste another day of my life, weighed down with unresolved issues from my past.

Let’s face it, every sixty minutes I invest in being angry, bitter, judgemental or unforgiving, is a full hour of happiness I can never get back.

This moment now is all I have got. It is the only moment that is guaranteed. I cannot assume to know how many days I have left. I want to spend them doing what fulfills and satisfies my soul. These endeavours are the treasures that are the memories that will be bubble wrapped with my soul for eternity.

This week may you invest your time wisely in choices that illuminate your soul?

Blessings of love

Listen!

I awoke to Creator’s voice yesterday morning. It was a single word and the word was “Listen!” It was direct, unmistakeable and loud.

I decided to sit up and take note and used the day to play observer rather than doer. This is quite a contradiction for me because I am usually so busy plotting, planning, questioning, problem-solving, researching, reading and writing.

So here’s what I had to do. First, I had to empty my expectations, my preconceptions, my history, my knowledge and my beliefs. Because as long as I held the beliefs that had got me to where I was, I would not be open to hearing that which fell outside of my programming and habitual practice. I literally had to become a blank page. I then had to become silent. I needed to be like an empty vessel waiting to be filled. I had to take on the role of observer. In this space I needed to place my ego to the side and I had to let go of any time constraints and have patience.

To listen is not to hear, but rather to give oneself over in complete surrender, allowing wisdom with grace and ease. In this process it is as if time ceases. You can only listen in a place of Spirit. As soon as ego pops in to visit, it becomes a contest of challenge and the pearls of wisdom become side-lined and fall to the floor, completely wasted.

And so it was that yesterday unfolded and the number of synchronicities was unbelieveable. I kept hearing the voices of others reinforcing the same few messages, “Listen”, “Patience” and “Balance” and I did.

My prayer for you is that you honour yourself, step aside from your ego, become like a blank page and surrender to the wisdom within. You’ll be amazed by what you learn.

Have a beautiful week

WISDOM

Today I was searching for quotes of wisdom. All this doing and going is taking its toll on me.
Here’s the quote that spoke to me:

“If there were a little more silence, if we all kept
 quiet...
 Maybe we could understand something.”
                                                 Federico Fellini

So, today I decided to take some time out from the rat race, keep this blog short and spend some quality time with me. I remember my late Mom-in-law telling me that the best inventions were born out of boredom. So here’s to boredom and sitting in silence. Here’s to spending some alone time with me.

As Aristotle says: “Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom.”

Have a great week!
