Every Opportunity has a Shelf Life

This is my favourite line from the musical, 'Burlesque', starring the magnificent Cher and ever so talented, Christina Aguilera.

Why does it resonate so deeply with me? Well, because each opportunity that life drops on our doorstep is only fresh for a while and needs to be plucked while it still has life. Everything in our physical realm is aging faster than we realise and opportunity sometimes only knocks once. We need to grab each opportunity to make a new friend, to share a compliment, to heed that amazing advice, to seize the moment and revel in the present, to write that letter, to say sorry, to love without limits, to live without fear and to enjoy every never-to-be-repeated second of this incredible journey.

How incredible that life is continuously renewing itself. Every new second is the beginning of the rest of our lives. Let's continue to die to our pasts every moment and choose to hold no regrets, but embrace fully the present moment, by observing our thought patterns and choosing only to focus on the positive and good in our lives.

May doubt and fear because of past failure be cast aside as we step over the threshold into the world of the brave. Let's take the opportunities that life offers us with both hands and run with them without looking back.

Let's focus on what lies in our grasp and not be distracted by what other people have or haven't got. Judging others on their journeys just has the effect of souring our experiences, causing them to pass their sell-by-date.

When we live bravely, taking risks, without judging failures as catastrophies, but rather wonderful opportunities to grow, our personalities deepen and move into closer alignment with our souls, our higher purpose.

I am so grateful that I used every opportunity to communicate and share with my dear Mom, who passed away two weeks ago. I embraced every opportunity to tell her how much I loved and appreciated her. I got to speak to her about her about her anguishes, her desires, her passions and her losses. We spent real, meaningful time together and I can honestly say as Mom is my witness, I have no regrets only incredibly happy memories which I have bubble wrapped with my soul for eternity.

Do you have any unfinished business? Is there someone you've been dying to befriend but haven't got the guts? What about guilt, shame, anger, forgiveness, compassion? Make the call! Write the letter!

Every new second is a fresh opportunity to step up to the plate and seize the opportunity life offers you to make right and live without regrets.

Here's to life whilst we've still got it!

Have an awesome week

love
Nicolette
