Why are we so afraid of
our shadow side?
Why do we try and hide
behind others flaws and weaknesses?
Why are we so ashamed of
those traits we label as negative?
Why do we fear intimacy
with others?
It is because we think we are separate. We believe subconsciously or perhaps consciously that we are not good enough. We think we are imperfect and shameful and we don’t want anyone to find out. We fear getting too close to anyone lest they uncover our dark secret. We wear the mask of people pleaser and do-gooder and point our fingers at everyone around us to divert the attention from ourselves. Our greatest fear is of others discovering our darkness.
We forget that we are all the
same. Our fears are the same as everyone else’s fears. Our darkness has its
roots in our material identity, the part of us that forgets it is a Spiritual
being. We need to remember that our Spirit is having an experience of
itself through the medium of physical form. Without our physical bodies there
is no experience. All our external challenges are vehicles to reveal our
Spirituality to ourselves. Our Spirit doesn’t have any work to do on itself in
the realm of Spirit. There are no addictions, discomforts nor tests of courage
or faith in the formless dimension. It
is only when we are gifted with a physical body that feels pain and pleasure
that we can experience the tug of war between discipline and freedom.
We have an array of emotions
from negative to positive. God wouldn’t have given us the negative ones if He
didn’t expect us to use them. We all have feelings of anger, frustration,
sadness, hatred and so on. That is normal and to be expected. Our feelings
are not who we are. They are expressions which signal to us if we are living
from a place of love or fear. Feelings need to be expressed, acknowledged
and heeded, but never suppressed. When we try and conceal our negative feelings
because of the fear of judgement, we cause ourselves to suffer. We make
ourselves ill.
When we allow our emotions to
surface with the sub ordinance of ego to Spirit, then the mind and intellect can
expose any misperceptions and settle the discord in the present.
Darkness is created out of
fear, which is the off switch to love.
Fear is the doubt we entertain when we forget our divine nature, our oneness
with Creator. There is nothing to fear except fear itself. As you let go of
fear the love within illuminates you and the dark evaporates. Fear gives
you the opportunity to experience who you are, by experiencing everything you
are not. The dance between light
and dark is a continuous cycle of forgetting who we are and self-realisation in
the realm of duality.
Be the dual being that you
are in this lifetime. Don’t fight it. Let the darkness act as a reminder of
your powerful Spiritual identity.
Experience wholeness this
week by embracing your dark and your light
